Oooh, boy, an 11 hero party! This game is turning into a RTS
Because, technically, Stumme didn't mention 7 heroes. Just that we could fill out our party with them.

I was never against 7 heroes, I just never saw them as necessary. But this could turn out to be trouble, actually.
Looking at my own guild... when I see the hero builds... all too often, people would be better off if they simply used henches.
Why, just yesterday I was asked to help a guildie get from Vlox' falls to Rata Sum. Good think I asked him to ping his hero builds... Not an elite skill in sight, and while mending wasn't around, the builds were rather abysmal. So, I had to gently break the news to him, that we'd be better off using henches, since they have solid builds AND elite skills. Among the comments that went out was "henchies have elites?" and similar...
TLR: This is gonna hit casuals hard, if they don't use good hero builds ...

To be honest, I'm not sure casual players like the one you have described will find any of the content any harder than they did, and if they do then they will react in one of two ways:
1) Either they will adapt, and learn, create new builds which work and go from a bad player to a good player.
2) They will uninstall, and through a Darwinesque process of natural selection the playerbase will become smarter.
bonus option 3!: They will hobble through, never get any better, never learn anything, continue using bad builds on unruned and unequiped heroes.

By the way, I never really paid attention to that, but do henchmen in your party also profit from one's title buffs?

It's just a matter of convenience, really. I don't have too many people anymore around on my friend list, so if I want to log in and try to do something, I can. And if I fail, I have no one to blame but myself.
Although thinking of builds for 7 heroes seems like a nightmare...

Ah, memories... several years ago, my wife and one daughter helped my necro traverse the Shiverpeaks, hunting down Maw so I could cap Feast of Corruption... those five henchies must have been at -60 DP for half the journey. Great fun -- really. But I'll tell you what, it would have been MORE FUN if we'd of had five heroes along (this was pre-Nightfall).
Tthat same daughter (now 21) and I did "To Sorrow's Furnace" last night, the two of us and six heroes, to cook her Moa Chick for her Monument. We had only one trouble spot, when Alkor nearly bought it because we didn't know he was following us to heal the farkin' minions...
Good times. Few games (no games?) have been fun for as long as Guild Wars.

I wonder when we will see this you+heroes update? As seen here most of us are excited about it but personally if it's going to come out in the middle of 2011 I doubt I'd still be as thrilled then.
I don't think I have to say how people would feel if it never comes out at all.
But no pressure really.

A simple and good move by Anet since GW2 is coming next: the large part of players crowd is going to be on the new game.
It means few players on the old game.
This is gonna help a lot ppl still play GW1 and wants to finish missions/titles without any trouble.

Hehe, can you imagine?
The RAAAAAAAAAAAGE!
It kinda has to come out fairly soon, otherwise the changes won't see much use before GW2 (assuming GW2 is coming out first quarter of next year).

Doubtful.
With GW1, we were approaching The World Preview Event around this time of the year, with the game then got released by the end of April 2005.
We don't even know all the classes yet. I'd guess Q1 2012 at the earliest.

That would be a shame, but its all just speculation at the moment. Some sources say very soon, some say not for another year+. Either way I'd be happy I suppose. The longer it is, the longer I have to complete all the content, max my HoM and get GWAMM, the sooner it is, well, the sooner I get to play it.

What else can they do to make sure everyone gets 50/50 before GW2?
why not just make each new char arrive with full titles ^^

For me Embark Beach is a far greater thing than 7 heroes.
Why? Because you can team up with PEOPLE and do that MUCH EASIER! This will be the node for runners, for DoA, UA, FoW, SCs, ZB, and Bloodstone Fen!
Back to 7 heroes, if you're really excited about this then you missed a huge chunk of what Guild Wars is about - guilds! I can't remember when was the last time I VQed alone with H/H, I can't remember doing a dungeon with less than 4 people, although I have to admit I did FoW with only heroes just for the fun of it. I think that if this 7 heroes thing is so big for you, then you either don't socially interact with other human beings in an MMORPG, you think you're too good for guilds and you act like it but when you think about it you realize you kinda suck at some things and don't feel like showing that when it's time to learn ... or (and probably the biggest issue here), you're unlucky and you haven't found a good guild yet.
For me 3 heroes or 7 heroes really won't make a difference. In fact, if looking from a distance, this fails the purpose of a guild / alliance. Let's say Sam Swordslasher starts to VQ alone with only heroes, then you come and ask who wants to VQ? ..*crickets* and *tumbleweed*, then you, even though you don't want to, will be "pushed" towards using 7 heroes for your VQ.
It's a double-bladed sword. Sadly.
